𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗚𝗼𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡 showcased at the forefront of sustainable urban transformation

🎤 We’re proud to announce that our partners Filomena Pietrapertosa and Monica Salvia from Institute of Methodologies for Environmental Analysis (CNR-IMAA) represented the LIFE Local GoGREEN project at the international workshop “Towards a Sustainable Clean Energy Transition in Cities: Technical and Societal Perspectives”, hosted by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in Vienna.
🏢 Across Europe, cities are playing a central role in driving the transition toward climate neutrality and long-term sustainability. Supported by flagship EU initiatives such as the hashtag#EuropeanGreenDeal, the hashtag#NewEuropeanBauhaus, and the Horizon Europe Mission for 100 Climate-Neutral Cities by 2030, urban areas are becoming key testbeds for systemic innovation in energy, mobility, governance, and the built environment.
🏙️ However, with cities accounting for around 𝟳𝟱% 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟳𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, the path to a clean energy future is complex. Urban environments face intertwined technical, social, and governance challenges—from aging infrastructure and limited space to socio-economic inequalities and fragmented policy frameworks.
In this context, the workshop aimed to foster dialogue between the energy sector, urban planners, and the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) community to develop a shared understanding of the systemic changes required to co-create actionable, equitable, and scalable solutions for cities across Europe.
👉 As part of the event, Filomena and Monica 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 introducing the hashtag#LocalGoGREEN project to a wider audience working on smart cities and sustainable urban development. Their presentation highlighted the LGG methodological framework and the work being carried out in pilot municipalities committed to accelerating the hashtag#CleanEnergyTransition in rural and small European communities.
