Municipalities play a highly significant role in achieving the medium-term (2030) and long-term (2050) climate objectives adopted by the Member States of the European Union. As the level of administration closest to citizens, local authorities have a strong capacity to lead by example and encourage behavioural change among residents, beyond the local regulations they establish regarding the decarbonisation of private buildings and the mobility of people and goods. Planning and implementing the plans and projects required for the energy transition in European Union municipalities are relatively new tasks for many municipal officials, who often lack specific training in these areas. This creates an additional burden on their daily workload and, in practice, can lead to overexertion and put the quality of their work at risk. From November 18 to 20, LOCAL GoGREEN proudly participated in the Semana Internacional de la Electrificación y la Descarbonización (International Week of Electrification and Decarbonization), one of Spain’s leading events focused on energyefficiency and decarbonization, which attracted more than 100,000 attendees in Madrid. The City of Ponferrada, Spain, hosted the 5th project meeting and the First Regional Assembly of the Transnational Municipal Network (TMN) on 10 – 11 November 2025. The two-day event brought together municipal representatives from across Europe to share experiences, challenges, and opportunities in the transition to greener cities. The first day was focused on operational issues and presentation of the action plans of the pilot municipalities for their clean energy transition.     LOCAL GoGREEN training was successfully held in Albstadt, Germany. The event was hosted by project partner JER Dr. Jakob Energy Research GmbH & Co. KG.
