Ponferrada Hosts 5th Project Meeting and First Regional Assembly of the Transnational Municipal Network
The City of Ponferrada, Spain, hosted the 5th project meeting and the First Regional Assembly of the Transnational Municipal Network (TMN) on 10 – 11 November 2025. The two-day event brought together municipal representatives from across Europe to share experiences, challenges, and opportunities in the transition to greener cities.
The first day was focused on operational issues and presentation of the action plans of the pilot municipalities for their clean energy transition.
The second day was dedicated to TMN Assembly, providing a platform for municipalities to connect and collaborate in their green transition journey.

📌 Germany, Albstadt: Vera Langfeld (Mobility Planner) and Simon Stüve (Climate Protection Manager)
📌 Spain, Ponferrada: Oscar Cela (Innovation Agent)
📌 Slovenia, Ormož: Boštjan Najžar (Senior Advisor for Environment and Spatial Planning, Intermunicipal Administration)

The participants addressed common challenges and explored opportunities to scale up green initiatives across Europe. The meeting concluded with a field visit to the Green Ring of Ponferrada, a sustainable urban project designed to increase greenery, promote biodiversity, and reduce CO₂ emissions.
The work sessions were complemented by a cultural program, including visits to the Templar Castle of Ponferrada and the Museo de El Bierzo, offering participants a taste of the city’s rich history and heritage.

Participants expressed enthusiasm for the second TMN meeting, scheduled for 2026, which is expected to welcome more municipalities and stakeholders and provide a further platform for collaboration on innovative green solutions.
